​BUFFALO BILL DAM VISITOR CENTER

The Buffalo Bill Dam was completed in 1910 and was the highest dam in the world at the time standing 325 feet tall. The dam is still functional today as part of the Shoshone Project irrigates more that 93,000 acres. The dam was on of the first concrete arch dams built in the United States and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Open  May 1 to September 30. Free admission.

The magnificent Cody Mural covers a domed ceiling 36 feet in diameter and 18 feet high. Perfectly blended into the mural are selected historical scenes from the first seventy years of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In an adjoining part of the building, are displays and art telling the story of the colonization of the Big Horn Basin in Wyoming. No admission fee.

The Cody Nite Rodeo started in 1938 and is the longest running and the only nightly rodeo (June-August) in the world. Mo Betta Rodeo Company and Tate family have been producing the nightly rodeo for more than 13 years and continue to make history.
Gates open at 7:00 p.m. with rodeo action kicking off at 8:00 p.m. All seating is general admission within two sections, but we do suggest you purchase tickets in advance.
Be sure to arrive early and have your picture taken on our live rodeo bull "Mongo", ride the mechanical bull, get your face painted by the rodeo clowns, learn to rope like the cowboys & cowgirls, and visit our Cody Nite Rodeo store. Yellowstone is our Nation’s oldest and largest National Park. The East Entrance is located 52 miles west of Cody on US Highway 14, 16, 20. The Northeast entrance via the Chief Joseph scenic highway is 78 miles northwest of Cody. The park is open (weather permitting) from the 1st Saturday in May until the 1st Saturday in November for vehicle travel.

The Sleeping Giant ski hill was established in 1936 in the Shoshone National Forest. As ski hills have turned into massive resorts or have been pushed out of business, the community of Cody, WY has made huge efforts to sustain this historic community ski hill. Now, the Piazza family hopes to see Sleeping Giant become the hub for outdoor recreation at the East gate of Yellowstone.​
The heart of our community is the wildness that is the Big Horn Basin. Sleeping Giant is no different. It’s nestled in the Absaroka Mountains at the East entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The Shoshone River runs right through our front yard. Sleeping Giant not only attracts the outdoor adventurer for its summer and winter activities, but it’s also a wonderful place to sit back and enjoy the beauty that Sleeping Giant is nestled in.​

Heart Mountain Interpretive Center

​Through photographs, artifacts, oral histories, and interactive exhibits, visitors to the Interpretive Center experience life at Heart Mountain through the eyes of those Japanese and Japanese Americans who were confined here during WWII. The Interpretive Center provides an overview of the wartime relocation of Japanese Americans, including the background history of anti-Asian prejudice in America and the factors leading to their enforced relocation and confinement. Special emphasis is given to the experience of incarceration, the diverse personal responses of Japanese Americans to their imprisonment, constitutional issues, violations of civil liberties and civil rights, and the broader issues of race and social justice in the U.S.

Rocky Mountain Dance Theatre is proud to present their award winning, original "Wild West Spectacular the Musical" LIVE on stage! This historically based, comedic full-length production is offered on select days for 7 weeks during the summer at the historic downtown Cody Theatre, located on Sheridan Avenue in Cody, Wyoming. 
The Wild West has always been unpredictable and unexpected. This show is no exception. Whether you are a young buckaroo or an old timer, a local or someone "not from around these here parts"; you will be entertained by: action, romance, humor, perils, fights, toe tappn', hoots & hollers, and of course DANCING and SINGING!

*This is a 2 hour show with a 15 minute intermission. Real fire arms are not used in this production.

​RIVERTON MUSEUM 

This local history museum that tells the story of the 20th-century homesteaders who brought Riverton to life in 1906 and helped it grow to its present status as the largest commercial center in west-central Wyoming. The museum displays artifacts that illustrate life at a time when the Old West was fading, but when many still believed that the pioneer spirit could lead to a bright future. The museum is housed in one of Riverton’s earliest brick buildings; the home of the Riverton Methodist Church from 1916 to 1960.

Wind river heritage center

​The Wind River Heritage Museum was the vision of Jake Korell, a local trapper. He was born in 1914 and trapped from age 7 until March 6, 2013, which is the day he died. He was one month shy of 99 years old when he passed. In almost a century, he amassed quite a collection that we are honored to display.

Bridger - teton national forest

Bridger–Teton National Forest is located in western Wyoming, United States. The forest consists of 3.4 million acres, making it the third largest National Forest outside Alaska. The forest stretches from Yellowstone National Park, along the eastern boundary of Grand Teton National Park and from there rides along the western slope of the Continental Divide to the southern end of the Wind River Range. The forest also extends southward encompassing the Salt River Range and Wyoming Range mountains near the Idaho border.

Hot springs state park

Hot Springs State Park is a public recreation area in Thermopolis, Wyoming, known for its hot springs, which flow at a constant temperature of 135 °F. The state park offers free bathing at the State Bath House, where temperatures are moderated to a therapeutic 104 °F. The petroglyph site at Legend Rock, some 25 miles away, is also part of the park. The park is managed by the Wyoming Division of State Parks and Historic Sites.

Popo agie river

The Middle Fork Popo Agie River is a river in Wyoming in the United States. The river is 54 miles long. The river is sometimes referred to as simply the 'Middle Fork'. The river is part of the Popo Agie Watershed and from its headwaters in the Wind River Range until it joins with the North Fork of the Popo Agie River, the river and its tributaries irrigate roughly 11,503 acres. The river is notable for passing underground through a sinkhole in Sinks Canyon State Park, only to emerge several hundred yards downstream at "the rise." The ground distance is not far, but tests with dye have shown it takes the water many hours to flow through the underground passage. ​

Major General Armstrong Custer, played by Steve Alexander (recognized by Congress to be today’s foremost Custer Historian), and the 7th US Cavalry Troopers come out of the Medicine Tail Coulee and clash with authentic Indian Braves as they both cross the Little Bighorn River, showcasing their great riding ability, to recreate that famous day of June 25th, 1876.

The 12,000-square-foot Jim Gatchell Museum, located in Buffalo, Wyoming on the eastern flank of the Bighorn Mountains, has entire collections of such items and artifacts on routine exhibit. Collectively, the museum’s holdings, exhibits and programs depict Wyoming and America’s frontier history, with particular emphases on Native American cultures, frontier military, pioneer cattlemen and settlers of the Powder River – Bozeman Trail Region.

Mint Bar

High on every visitor’s list of Sheridan experiences is the iconic Mint Bar, Wyoming’s legendary meeting place. Serving frosty brews and countless tall tales since 1907, the Mint has become an iconic piece of Sheridan history. Although the ice is no longer delivered to the bar via horse and carriage, the rustic cowboy character and tall tales live on. I’ll meet you at the Mint, my friend.

WYO Theatre

When the WYO Theater first opened its curtains in 1923 as the Lotus, newspaper headlines proclaimed it “Wyoming’s Wonder Picture Palace”. Throughout the years, the name has changed and updates have been furnished, but the theater has remained an architectural centerpiece for downtown Sheridan and a staple for live performances, film and entertainment.
