I haven't been quite as surprised, and satisfied with a Holiday Inn stay
in years! This place charges too much, but being at the entrance to a
National Park, it seems inevitable that the price will be higher. What I
got for my money was good enough it didn't seem so painful upon
departing.
When you first walk into the lobby of this place, if
you have any memory of Holiday Inn's over the years, you're going to
notice that this one looks like yesterday. There aren't too many
roadside motor inns in a city with no interstate highway that still have
full food and beverage service, with meeting rooms. This in indeed does
have a full service restaurant open for all three meals, and a separate
night club and lounge. When you walk up to the desk, every staffer
there is dripping diamonds from their employee badges, each one earned
by a guest compliment. Stick around a while, and you'll see why they are
all dripping diamonds.
Being a Priority Club member, they
checked me in and gave us too ultra-rich gooey candy bars as a club
perk, and offered us ice cold bottled water. We were also given a free
cocktail card for the lounge for each night of our stay, although we
didn't claim them. So, I grabbed my stuff, and waltzed on down to our
room which was in perfect order. The beds, television, bathroom
condition, soaps, towels, linens, and that kind of thing was in good
condition, sparkling clean, and would make Kemmons Wilson proud. I would
later go outside and gawk at the pool, which was clean and in perfect
order, surprisingly still having a "deep" end - a thing pretty much now
history at roadside inns. They have two internet connected business
computers for guests to use.
Sitting over on a table in the
corner of my room was the cutest stuffed buffalo plush toy that has ever
been spit out by a sewing machine. Attached to him is a tag telling the
guest that his name is Billy Buffalo, and he's there for your
enjoyment, but please don't take him. If you like him, you can have one
just like him up in the gift shop. He was the softest, cuddliest child's
toy I've picked up in years. Being fifty years old, normally these
things don't impress me, but this one was different. He was a most
unexpected pleasant surprise I've ever found in one of Holiday Inn's "no
surprise" rooms, and I had to take one home too.
In the
morning, I'm not one to be willing to mess with those in-room
percolators, so I headed down the hall to get some coffee. Upon
obtaining that, I went to the restaurant wanting some kind of sweet
bread. After quizzing the cashier for every possible variation, they
just didn't have anything like that to offer me. In a minute, a man from
the restaurant told me to stand by a moment and headed for the kitchen.
He comes back with one of those boxed sweet rolls like are found at
your big box retailer. Since they weren't on the menu, he just gave them
to me. I suspect that may have been the staff's breakfast, but the
gesture and kindness overwhelmed me. We would later drop in on them for
genuine full-service breakfast, and it turned out to be all that we
expected.
If you look around at this place a bit, you'll notice
there are golf carts busily running about between this property and the
ones next door. Come to find out Blair Hotels owns three different
branded inns on that corner, and they share maintenance staff. There are
motor coaches constantly coming and going, and these people are well
trained and dutifully prepared to check large groups in and out without
incident.
In summary, this is the best Holiday Inn stay I can
remember since recorded history. The place, the people, the service, and
the quality all were above expectations. Outside of costing too much, I
can't think of anything that needed improving. Don't hesitate to pick
this place for your own lodging needs - you won't be disappointed.

The hotel is located within 2 miles of the Cody airport (Yellowstone Regional). Plenty of parking and multiple entrances to rooms. Nice rooms that are clean and well appointed. Would stay again.

"An Older Property Professionally Operated"Date of review: Aug 8, 2010
We had a smallish room on the second floor of an older building that has no elevator.
However, the room was comfortable and, when we requested a refrigerator, one was delivered to us promptly.
The location is great, and the rate was reasonable. It would be nice if they offered breakfast, but they don't.

We are traveling from Boston to Seattle and over the past week we have
stayed at 8 hotels so far from the Red Roof Inn to the Sheraton and
Westin and we liked this so much that I am writing this review even
before checking out thanks to free wifi internet (which the sheraton and
westin charged us $10 for). Clean sheets. Hair dryer (which the
sheraton and westin didn't have) firm mattresses and pillows. Great
location. Great value.
Would definitely recommend.

"Wonderful Stay!!!"
This Holiday Inn was so much like many others we have stayed in. It was clean, the rooms were very nice, and very conveniently located to all the points of interest. The only drawback is that they do not have an elevator. Other than that our stay was great. Hotel staff were very courteous and helpful. Restaurant food was good, a little pricey but what you would expect in a high tourist area. Definitely would stay again!
